Tom and Jerry Mix

I received this recipe from a friend who got it from her Grandfather on his death bed. It was a secret until I got hold of it!

Ingredients

8 eggs, separated.
2 pounds powdered confectioners sugar(possibly minus 1 cup, depending on the size of the eggs).
2 drops cinnamon oil
2 drops clove oil
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.
Brandy and or rum
Hot water
Nutmeg.

Directions

Beat the egg whites until stiff with an electric mixer. Set aside. Beat the egg yolks until stiff. Gradually add powdered sugar a cup at a time until the mixture is still and the mixer groans. Add the cinnamon oil, clove oil and vanilla extract. The mixture will appear very stiff and thick. Fold the whites into the yolk mixture. Store in a tupperware container.

For each mug, add a shot of rum or brandy or a mixture of each. Add a large scoop of T&J mixture to the cup and fill with hot water. Stir and top with nutmeg.

Notes

The mixture will store nicely for several days in the refrigerator. You may need to stir it after a day or so. Do not substitute for the cinnamon oil or clove oil. Dry cinnamon or cloves will not work. (that’s the secret ingredient!). Serves 20-25
