I used to mix up batches of playdoh and the children would spend hours molding, and creating with the different colors. If stored in an airtight container, it will keep for a couple weeks.
Home-Made Playdoh

Ingredients
1/2 cup salt
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon salad oil
Food coloring
Directions
Mix the first three ingredients. Add the next three ingredients. Cook over medium heat for 3-5 minutes. Store in plastic zip lock bags or air tight containers.
