German Sausage Stuffing

This is another German recipe handed down from my Grandmother, Lucy Murphy (Maurer). It has a great flavor all by itself, but really enhances poultry when stuffed in the “bird” and roasted together. This was and is my favorite part of Thanksgiving!!

Fast-Nacht Knekles

This is a German recipe handed down from my Grandmother, Lucy Murphy (Maurer). It is a Lenten dinner, originally served on Ash Wednesday.

Cherries in the Snow (or Berries on a Cloud)

This tastes like a light cheese cake. It requires two days preparation but it serves 12 and is delicious!

North Dakota Ludefisk

The amount of ludefisk used will be determined by various factors, e.g. the amount of people in the gathering, the amount of people who are game to try it. Not all Norwegians will go for it.

Black Peppercorn Steak (Steak Au Poivre)

This is a great tasting steak. A word of warning: if you don’t like large amounts of Black Pepper, I wouldn’t suggest making this.

French Onion Soup

This is a great, but filling, soup which goes well with beef dinners.

Almond Tea

This is a good summer drink.

Home-Made Playdoh

I used to mix up batches of playdoh and the children would spend hours molding, and creating with the different colors. If stored in an airtight container, it will keep for a couple weeks.

Oven French Toast

This recipe is good for larger quantities. I have used it for weekends or when we have weekend guests.

Strawberry Nut Bread

This makes a terrific gift or is great for brunches. I often store frozen berries in the freezer from June picking for use in the bread.
